Love Child, with its sweeping cinematic yet ethereal quality, is a complete diversion from my traditional career trajectory as a classical-trained concert pianist.

The pieces in Love Child are more complex than some of the ‘popular’ contemporary piano music you hear today. They are the ‘love child’ of the various musical heroes who inspire me - from classical composers like Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Debussy, to modern-day cinematic composers like Yann Tiersen, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer and Joe Hisaishi.

Some of the pieces are technically demanding, which I hope may also appeal to other professional pianists. But I’ve approached the works in such a way that you’re carried along by emotion. You can interpret them with your own life experience. They are for everyone, because music should be accessible for everyone.

There is a strong philosophical underpinning to the evocative soundscapes of the compositions on this album, which draws upon reflections about life, love, loss, death and despair - making this album a highly emotive, story-like album.
